By now, it’s painfully obvious that the accompanying increase in energy needs is part and parcel of lifestyle advancement. Fossil fuels, coal and gas cut both ways. While they literally power the world forward, there’s no denying they also constitute environmental, economic and even political problems. It seems like breaking point sooner now rather than later and it’s time we drastically heightened our efforts to make better use of the Renewable Energy Sources!

Granted, the world has benefited greatly from our traditional sources of energy but the expense of melting ice, withering forests and crazy weather behaviors is hardly what we had bargained for. There’s no easy substitute but that’s no excuse to turn a blind eye on the fact of the situation. Actually, global movements and campaigns have long been underway to circumscribe the ill-effects of energy by-products but alas, with at best, only sporadic success.

Although conservation is without doubt the best way to control our energy consumption, the required discipline and awareness is never going to be inculcated overnight, benefits of contained pollution and lower fuel costs notwithstanding. In parallel with propaganda and other incentives to conserve energy, consumers should also be facilitated to adopt alternative green and renewable sources of energy also.

The cost of energy is high, more than what most people realize. Over and above the monthly bills from the power company, our environment is also deeply at stake. The future of our natural habitat and the continued availability and reserves of fuel also beg profound question marks. Wherever possible, all energy consumers must stand up to be counted because that is the way that the most significant impact can be made.

To this end, renewable energy will sit in aptly. The idea has been around for a while already but back when crude oil price was twenty dollars a barrel and the ozone layer was of interest only to scientists and researchers, it never summoned much attention. Needless to say, the situation is quite different today. Fundamentally, we still have to look to earth for energy and wind and solar power are two clean and limitless contenders. These two forms of power generation have become hugely popular ever since their small-scale DIY versions entered the market.

Those who are in search of DIY guides to set up Homemade Wind Generator are in luck. Nowadays, you don’t even have to leave home for it as the internet is flush with retailers of such instructional literature. Standards and quality vary greatly so the trick is in selecting the right one. To play safe, subscribe only to those with money-back guarantee, full support and service and free lifetime updates.

If you are looking to homemade wind and solar power, our recommendation is outright. Let us share our views and information with you at Residential Solar Power Generation Guide.

A boiler is an important component of a heating system used in homes, buildings, industries and in making hot water. It is the part that contains water and moves heat in the form of steam from a fuel source such as oil, gas or coal to provide warm air. This is often found in hot water heating systems that convert heated water into steam and returns it to the source to be reused when the air gets cooler.

Specifically, a boiler works by burning natural gas, oil or wood pellet to heat water that goes through hot water tubes or cylinders, radiators or underfloor systems. Boilers can be energy efficient if well maintained, properly set up and their insulation intact and sealed well.

In most residential and small commercial applications, boilers can produce hot water at around 160 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit which is then circulated throughout the system using a pump. At temperature above 212 degrees Fahrenheit, steam is produced.

    Types of boilers

Boilers can be closed or open systems. A closed system refers to one which is able to reuse 100 percent of the steam produced by a boiler. In other words, the energy from the steam is converted back into the form of water to be used again in producing heat. A hot water heating system is an example. On the other hand, an open system is one which does not return the condensate back into the boiler as the process of heating may be a source of contamination.

Boilers also come in two basic types – the firetube and the watertube. In the firetube or shell boilers, the fire or the hot gases are directed through the inner part of the tubes situated within the boiler shell surrounded by water. This design type, which is found in 80 percent of boilers, can produce steam of up to a maximum of 25,000 pounds per hour.

In the watertube, the fire or hot gases are directed to and around the exterior of tubes containing water. The boilers in this type are rectangular in shape and have two or more drums. In the top drum is where steam and water are separated while the lower drum acts as a collection point. When a huge amount of steam is needed, this system is very ideal.

    How it works

Boilers operate when fuel is supplied to the burner. Natural gas is supplied through the gas pipe, oil or LPG through a pressurized tank while the wood pellet is blown to the burner. Fuel is then mixed with air and ignited.

The next stage is when the fire from the burner and its combustion gases escapes into the boiler. What follows is the transfer of heat to the water that circulates through the heat exchanger within the boiler.

When water is heated, it then produces warm air around the house via the radiators, under-floor heater and hot water tubes.

Keep in mind that boilers have to be regularly cleaned to make it work for a longer period. As they age, boilers that are not well maintained usually become less efficient.

Here are some tips then to follow. Run your boiler for short periods of time. Also, avoid turning it on and off very often as doing so could affect its system. Leave at least a one-hour interval before switching it on again.

I’m a big believer in relaxing. And I have experienced how good it feels to stop thinking for awhile and just daydream, give your brain a rest.

I think people can really benefit from learning to relax, as well.

In these crazy, times, where nothing seems to be solid, sometimes you just have to get away for a few minutes.

Light and sound machines really help you relax as you drift off to a soothing spot in your mind..

I bought a Proteus Audio Visual Stimulation System about a year ago, having tried several different light and sound machines earlier. The Proteus differs from the others I’ve tried in several ways.

First, the MultiColor LiteFrames are excellent. They have red and green LEDs. The green LEDs are meant to enhance tranquility; red helps to “activate” the mind, and more than 250 combinations of the two colors stimulate your brain in innumerable ways. I found the visual effects from these glasses more intense than the others I had tried before, and I found them very soothing and energizing at the same time.

The Proteus mind machine has an improved AudioStrobe decoding circuitry. This allows the unit to play AudioStrobe-encoded CDs, available at a variety of sites, so you can listen to cool music along with a synchronized “light show”; these are fantastic for relaxing and discovering other soothing places in your own mind.

You can also connect the Proteus to your computer and transfer new programs to the unit with the included serial transfer cable. This is really amazing because you can actually download the Proteus Editor free from their website and download new sessions or create your own! This increases the range and versatility of the Proteus 100-fold.

Proteus comes with 50 sessions preprogrammed in its main bank. Altogether, you can store 199 sessions and four audio waveforms at one time, all of which can be edited.

But, hey, if you don’t want to bother with any editing or creating, you’ve got plenty to choose from, all categorized for the kind of session, and the length of session, you’re in the mood for.

I think the Proteus and other light and sound machines like it are well worth the money. It’s your sanity we’re talking about here! They help you to relax totally, rather than listen to that incessant chatter that goes on inside your head; you can just chill out after a stress-filled day.

It is pretty safe to assume that we all know what the most common question asked by back pain sufferers typically is, “What are my treatment options?”

There are a number of traditional treatment methods a back pain patient may undergo when they first experience back pain or discomfort. An example would be bed rest. Bed rest may be prescribed for back pain sufferers whose conditions are not considered serious. The downfall of this treatment method is that patients may be more likely to develop depression and experience other negative effects.

Physical therapy is another common treatment option recommended for back pain sufferers. Certain exercises can improve the general function and strength of the spine, but may not address the primary cause of a patient’s back pain.

Pain medication or pain killers will normally function by temporarily decreasing inflammation, muscle spasm and pain. This option will only alleviate symptoms, but rarely does it deal with the primary cause of pain.

A treatment option introduced over 2,500 years ago is called acupuncture. It is a form of treatment where by needles are inserted into various parts of the body, such as in ankles, knees, or fingers for the treatment of back pain.

Back surgery attempts to correct the primary cause of the problem. Some patients report significant relief of pain after surgery, but the risks involved make this option a last resort for many.

Manual traction may be used by a therapist, by utilizing the patient’s weight to change both the force and direction of pull. Auto traction is when the patient controls the traction forces by grabbing and pulling on the end of the traction table.

Non-surgical spinal decompression therapy is another treatment alternative available to back pain sufferers. The DRX9000 True Non-surgical Spinal Decompression SystemTM is designed to provide pain relief for compressive and degenerative injuries of the spine. Through the application of spinal decompressive forces to these injuries, patients have found relief from their back pain problems.

As new emerging technologies arise, more and more back pain sufferers are finding the relief they so desperately search for.

Consult with your physician prior to undergoing any form of treatment.

    Keep Moving
